Rosaura Romero
Community Program Manager
Rosaura provides direct support for outreach, communications, project management, and reporting for East Side Avenues, with a specific focus on the Community-Based Real Estate Development Training (CBREDT) program which trains East Side residents and building owners in real estate development and works to build a pipeline of citizen developers interested in taking an active role in revitalizing their commercial corridors.
Previously, Rosaura served as Community Engagement Manager at the UB Regional Institute (UBRI) in support of the CBREDT program.
Prior to joining UBRI, Rosaura operated the Buffalo Research Registry, consulted with researchers and community partners, created culturally informed community-based recruitment strategies, and implemented program deliverables as a Community Engagement Specialist at the Clinical Translational and Science Institute at the University at Buffalo. Additionally, she served as Research Data Coordinator on the Veggie Van Study at the University at Buffalo’s School of Public Health and Health Professions. She created and executed data collection systems and worked with community partners in facilitating and implementing study protocols to understand if mobile produce markets can impact fruit and vegetable intake and other related health outcomes in lower-income and underserved communities.
She has a passion and commitment to serving systematically disenfranchised communities, through social justice-based initiatives and promoting equitable practices and has eight years of community development experience.
Rosaura holds a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and health and human services with a concentration in community mental health from the State University of New York at Buffalo where she is also currently pursuing her master of social work.
